360 Threat Intelligence Center attributes a multi-path espionage campaign to Kimsuky, with South Korea as the primary target and possible activity against Japanese, Vietnamese, German, and English-speaking users. Operators delivered malicious LNK files disguised as insurance and financial documents, used PowerShell and scheduled tasks for persistence, and cloned the pybroker repository so pytest would execute a backdoor from a tampered conftest.py file. The payload chain abused certutil, curl, and public GitHub repositories to retrieve components, profile infected hosts, and exfiltrate system, account, network, and document data to attacker-controlled infrastructure.
