Defense contractor employee pleads guilty to aiding North Korean remote IT scheme
2026-10-28 • USJustice •
A U.S. defense contractor employee with an active Top Secret clearance pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud after allowing foreign individuals to use his identity and another stolen identity for remote-job applications. The scheme targeted U.S. companies, including government contractors, generated nine job offers, and used laptops hosted at his Virginia home for remote access from abroad. The Justice Department linked the conduct to North Korea's effort to evade sanctions and generate revenue through dispatched IT workers.
