Operation FlashHole: Lazarus breaks security, defies control
2026-10-21 • Kaspersky •
Kaspersky attributed Operation FlashHole to the Lazarus Group, which targeted at least three South Korean organizations through tailored phishing sites and an infection chain involving the mandatory CrossWeb EX security product. The campaign used a largely memory-resident framework comprising TechHub, Cubridge, TouchShift, LPEClient, and the newly identified TouchHub and ClientHub. GitHub repositories, compromised legitimate websites, and Dropbox supported command-and-control, while the malware provided host profiling, credential theft, collection, injection, and anti-forensic capabilities. Kaspersky assessed FlashHole as the latest Cascade Hole wave and linked it to Operation SyncHole with medium-to-high confidence.
