/8 A North Korean recruiter just tried to pay me $300/month to launder his Upwork identity. Here is how the pitch works: ๐งต
/8 He offered to pay $300 per month for a US citizen to set up an Upwork account for him. $150 for EU citizen. Payment would be in USD or Crypto. After month 4, he would pay 15% of his monthly income.
/8 He claimed to already be working with a US citizen in California and that he was using this person's laptop remotely because Upwork monitors their users' IPs and will ban the account if it's suspicious.
/8 He then walked me through the steps of installing Anydesk on my device and requested to connect. I accepted the connection request.
/8 He AnyDesked into my machine, took one look around, and immediately noped out. Session closed, chat wiped, blocked. No idea what tipped him off? ๐ โฆ
