THORChain Restarts Most Swaps After Analyst Said Operators Would Expect North Korea to Launder
2026-11-03 • Unchained •
THORChain restored swaps for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron and several other networks after an Ethereum reorganization had halted activity and delayed movement of funds stolen from Binance by North Korean hackers. Pangolin Intelligence founder Jonty argued that node operators voting to reactivate the protocol would knowingly enable future North Korean laundering through the network. He attributed laundering associated with several major crypto thefts to TraderTraitor, but his estimate that such activity represented more than 99% of THORChain volume on affected days was not supported by a published dataset.
