Treasury Sanctions Facilitators of DPRK IT Worker Fraud Targeting U.S. Businesses
2026-10-28 • USTreasury •
OFAC sanctioned 10 individuals and the DPRK-controlled First Financial and Technical Development Center for supporting North Korean IT worker networks operating partly from Russia. Treasury said these workers use stolen identities and fabricated personas to obtain jobs, while facilitators convert cryptocurrency, launder proceeds, and transfer millions of dollars to the DPRK government. The schemes finance North Korea's weapons programs and can also expose employers to malware deployment, data theft, and extortion.
