GrimResource is an execution technique that abuses crafted Microsoft Management Console saved-console files on Windows rather than a standalone malware family. A Kimsuky operation used a single .msc file to begin a five-stage loader chain ending with roughly 1 MB of x86 shellcode injected directly into memory. The chain performed JScript decryption, .NET BinaryFormatter deserialization through a SortedSet gadget chain, XAML-based injection through XamlReader.Parse, and native execution through Marshal.GetDelegateForFunctionPointer. The malicious console file enabled code execution through MMC while evading defenses.
