PolyPlay is a cryptocurrency project that was compromised on October 28, 2021 after an attacker used a fake exchange-listing email and a long-established LinkedIn persona to deceive the team. PolyPlay reported that investor funds worth millions had been taken and that 91 percent was subsequently recovered. The attacker was not identified in the project's initial account, while later cryptocurrency tracing included the theft among incidents linked to the North Korean Lazarus Group. The name denotes the affected project and incident, not malware.
