Huntress investigated five people employed across healthcare, financial services, IT, sales and marketing, and medicine who were assessed as likely DPRK remote workers using fraudulent or stolen identities. Correlated evidence included Astrill VPN and IPRoyal Proxy activity, working-hour patterns aligned with North Korea, closely matching forged identity documents, altered profile photographs, and PiKVM and Guermok hardware used for remote control and audiovisual redirection. A proactive hunt for the hardware combination uncovered an additional recently onboarded employee using altered identity documents, file-sharing services, recording tools, and publicly exposed meeting invitations. Huntress recommends combining endpoint, identity, browser, cloud, authentication, and hiring-process evidence because no single artifact reliably proves DPRK involvement.
