Scout is a downloader used by the Lazarus group and analyzed alongside the Volgmer backdoor. Multiple versions of Scout have been identified, indicating that the downloader evolved across separate deployments. Scout and Volgmer were installed through dropper components in attacks that disguised malicious files as legitimate software, helping the infection chain blend into expected user activity. Within this toolset, Scout handled the downloader stage while Volgmer provided backdoor functionality after the disguised dropper established execution.
